About Us

The Melbourne Microfinance Initiative (MMI) is a student run microfinance organization, the first and largest of its kind in Australia. Founded in 2010 at the University of Melbourne, we are proudly affiliated with the Faculty of Business and Economics. Five years on, MMI remains committed to providing students the opportunity to apply their knowledge in creating real world microfinance solutions. MMI provides a number of opportunities for students who want to use their time at university to make an impact on the greater world. Be it through joining our committee, our student events or our Initiative projects, MMI believes in the power of this generation to challenge the causes of poverty.
