Whilst rising to infamousy during Donald Trump's ascendancy to presidency in 2016, the slogan was originally coined in Ronald Reagan's 1980 presidential campaign - a campaign which epitomised a period of conservative political ascendancy in the United States. Was this rise of conservatism merely a reactionary response to the societal uphevals of the time? Or is there more to the socio-political shift than meets the eye?
